A unique Contemporary Art Centre
The François Schneider Foundation was established in 2000 and recognised as a body acting in the public interest in 2005. It works in the twin fields of art and education, presenting exhibitions and a programme of cultural events engaging with the theme of water.
A convergence of talents
The aim of the collection, which is based around the work of renowned and up-and-coming artists, is to bring the public closer to contemporary art. The works acquired over the years are presented either indoors or in the sculpture garden.
Contemporary art with a water theme
Each year, three to four exhibition seasons are organised to showcase the works of the Contemporary Talents or established artists. These exhibitions aimed at a wide audience provide an opportunity to explore the multiple facets of contemporary art.
Programme
Throughout the year, the Foundation presents regular events to complement the works and subjects on display. With water as an undercurrent running through each event, they offer a new perspective on Contemporary Art for all sections of the public.
Support for young talents
Through its Contemporary Talents Competition, the Foundation supports young artists by purchasing their works and presenting them at the Foundation’s Contemporary Art Centre, an institution devoted to the intersection between art and water.
A strong commitment to education
François Schneider wanted to use his Foundation to provide financial support for young people wanting to continue their education after high school in spite of their family’s modest resources. Nearly 200 scholarships are awarded each year.
