Since 2018, the François Schneider Foundation’s support for contemporary creation has been complemented by the launch of the Kunstart artistic residency program. In this way, the Foundation aims to develop interculturality linked to its location at the heart of four Rhineland countries and encourage exchanges between artists and local populations.

Kunstart residencies are open to artists from art schools along the Rhine (final-year students preparing their Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression Plastique, Master’s degree or equivalent diploma, and artists who have graduated from these schools within the last five years).

The young artists receive intellectual, logistical and financial support from the Foundation during their two-month stay in Wattwiller. During their residency, the artists undertake to meet the public, notably during two open-house workshops and a meeting scheduled at the art center.
This initiative embodies the vitality of creative activity in the Rhineland region.

The Foundation also makes its studio spaces available for special projects, in particular for performing artists in partnership with the Espaces culturels Thann-Cernay, visual artists taking part in the FEW (Fête de l’eau de Wattwiller), or any other singular approach.
